INTRODUCTION

Warmest welcome you the most important event of the IAFEI year. The 48th annual IAFEI World Congress will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from 14th to 16th of November 2018. 

For the first time, the annual IAFEI congress takes place in Vietnam, a true mark of the progress of that rising star economy has made on the road to a market economy with prospects for growth in GDP, consumer spending and living standards. 

The theme of our Congress “Transforming Finance in the Digital Age”underlines these concepts, and promises a great opportunity for discussion, for new potential openings towards new markets, and for cultural and professional growth. It will be an opportune time for all delegates from IAFEI member institutes all over the world to renew ties and network among themselves on topics of common interest making it IAFEI truly the global premiere society of financial executives.

Hiroaki Endo is a senior research fellow at Japan Association for CFOs. He has been involved with the association since its establishment. 

Hiroaki Endo was a vice president of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc. and T. Rowe Price International Ltd. He is the head of Relationship Management in the Global Investment Services division at T. Rowe Price, Tokyo. 

Mr. Endo has 27 years of investment experience, 12 of which have been with T. Rowe Price. Before joining the firm, he worked at the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). 

Gabriele Fontanesi joins Morri Rossetti as Of Counsel, working mainly with the Partners Davide Rossetti for what concerns the Tax Advisory services and Luigino Toniolo for Tax Compliance services. He is an expert in the corporate finance field, having been Top Manager or Chief Financial Officer in important national and international Groups for many years. 

Mr. Fontanesi is a Registered Auditor; he has been for many years associate member of the Advisory Council of ANDAF and of IAFEI (International Association of Financial Executives Institutes), of which he was also President. Furthermore, he is Senior Financial Advisor at Starwood Italia.

Speakers

Fausti Cosi is currently the CEO (and CFO) of the IRPLAST Group, operating in the field of plastics for packaging, based in Empoli (Tuscany). He also holds the top position in PHARD, a medium size company in the pret-à-porter business, and other lesser assignments. 

He held the CFO position in several important companies, among which are the Municipal Dairy Company of Florence, Pistoia and Leghorn and SAMMONTANA, a leading Italian ice cream and pastry maker (where he obtained the Oscar for the best Italian Annual Report). Then he turned into general management, holding the post of G.M. of COMPOSAD.

Juan Alfredo Ortega is a CPA with more than 28 years experience in different multinational organizations. He has a track record of successful contribution to operational cost savings and a broad background which includes both corporate and plant level positions in international environments. 

He has a strong finance and accounting knowledge of GAAP and IFRS. He is a results-focused, diversified financial executive with an extensive business, corporate finance, audit and controlling background. In 2007 he was selected for the Corporate Achievement Award for his work on Global Business Service in the innovation category among 20,000 employees, one of Mc Graw - Hill highest honours.

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), holder of MBA and Ph.D degrees and participant in executive programs, Dr. Conchita L. Manabat studied at the University of the Philippines, the Ateneo de Manila University, the Southeast Asia Interdisciplinary Development Institute, the Harvard Business School and Pennsylvania State University. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors. 

Dr. Conchita L. Manabat is the President of Development Center for Finance and is a member of the Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) for the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) and the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB). She is a past and so far, the only woman Chair of IAFEI where she now serves as Chair of its Advisory Council. 

Dr. Manabat founded the Deloitte firm in the Philippines where she retired as Chair in 2007. She once served as Chair of the Board of Accountancy of the Professional Regulation Commission, the chief regulator of the accountancy profession in the Philippines.

Professor Piergiorgio Valente is a Certified Tax Advisor and Auditor under Italian Law. He is the Founding and Managing Partner of Valente Associati GEB Partners. 

He is Chairman of the Fiscal Committee of the Confédération Fiscale Européenne (CFE), Chairman of the International Tax Committee of the International Association of Financial Executives Institutes (IAFEI), and Vice Chairman of the Taxation and Fiscal Policy Committee of the BIAC (Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD).

Professor Valente is Professor of EU Tax Law as well as Tax Planning and Transfer Pricing at the Link Campus University in Rome, Full Professor of EU and Supranational Taxation at the Advanced Course for the Tax Police of the Revenue Guard Corps (Guardia di Finanza), and Taxation of Multinational Enterprises Lecturer at the “Jean Monnet” School of the Second University of Studies in Naples.

Hiroshi Yaguchi helped establish the CFO Headquarters Co., Ltd. in 2000 and served as its President. He then co-founded the Japan Association of Chief Financial Officers (JACFO) where he served as a Member of the Board until he was appointed its Executive Director since 2003. 

Mr. Yaguchi earned his degree at the University of Tokyo, Department of Economics. He joined Sumitomo Bank in 1989 and became the Deputy Chief of Personnel Department in 1996. He served as the Deputy Manager of Hibiya Branch and was selected as the Deputy Chief of Corporate Department in 1999.

Eduardo Fransisco is President of BDO Capital & Investment Corporation, the investment banking arm of BDO Unibank, Inc. He is also the Co-Chairman of the Capital Market Development Council (CMDC) of the Philippines, Treasurer/Trading Nominee of BDO Securities Corp, and Chairman of Averon Holdings Corp. 

Mr. Francisco has worked with other financial institutions in New York and Hong Kong. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines. He is also a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the U.P. College of Business Administration.

SPEAKERS

Nicolas van Wyk is the CEO of SAIBA and a Board member of the International Association for Finance Executive Institutes and Board member of SAIT.

He is also the editor of www.accountingweekly.com and www.bandareview.com. He was instrumental in developing a new competency framework for CFOs together with the UNISA School for Business Leadership. He was part of the organising committee of the 46th CFO World Congress that was hosted in Cape Town, November 2016.

Mr. Bach is a Founding Chairman of the Vietnam CFO Club (VCFO). He is a gifted expert with over 20 years working in corporate governance and finance, of which, over 11 years as Chief Financial Officer for Multinational Corporations and Telecommunication Firms such as TNT, Hutchison Telecom, HT Mobile.

Mr. Bach is also a Founding Chairman of AsiaInvest Group; Board member and Deputy Secretary General of Vietnam Association of Corporate Directors (VACD); Vice Chairman of Hanoi Real Estate Association (HNREA); Board member of Vietnam National Real Estate Association (VNREA); Director of Alliance of International Corporate Advisors (AICA) 2012 - 2013; Area President for Asia of International Association of Financial Executives Institutes (IAFEI) 2012 – 2013.

Jose Antonio Quesada Palacios has over 27 years of professional experience primarily focused on projects to financial institutions. He is the Head Partner at PWC Mexico. He audited Banregio for five years. In 2012 he served as National President of the IMEF and actively participates in associations such as the IMEF, AMCHAM, Coparmex and CCE. He has been Professor at several universities as ITAM and UIA (universities where he graduated); ITESM (Campus Monterrey and Santa Fe).

Before his participation at the Academia, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1986 and became Financial Sector Leader, and later on, .Clients & Markets Leader (coordinated the practices of 14 industries and the market strategy of the Firm). He retired from pwc in December 31, 2017.

Professor Ian Eddie has an international reputation for research and consultancy on international corporate governance regulations and practices, corporate financial reporting, securities market regulation and international accounting and auditing standards with over thirty years experience. This has involved international assignments in numerous countries including Canada, China, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.

Professor Eddie is a member of the Corporations and Markets Advisory Committee (CAMAC) and is responsible for providing independent advice to the Australian Federal Treasurer on all aspects of Australia’s corporations and securities laws. This is a statutory appointment under the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001. Professor Eddie is also a member of the CAMAC Audit Committee.

Guruprasad Gaonkar i.e Guru is responsible for Oracle’s Digital transformation orchestration across Industries for the Office of Finance (CFO), Operations (COO), Information Technology (CIO) and Digital Supply Chain. In this role heads the ERP and Digital Supply Chain teams for Asia Pacific markets namely Australia & New Zealand, Southeast Asia and India.

Prior to joining Oracle in 2018, Guru has spent two decades in international executive roles, management consulting and advisory roles across Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America. As a Digital Transformation Expert, Guru has appeared in various CXO roundtables,
media and leading industry events. Guru is based in Singapore.

Thomas Zipperle is Chief Financial Officer for SAP South East Asia, based in Singapore. Together with his team he is responsible for all finance related activities across South East Asia. He functions as a business partner to the South East Asia Management Team and provides them with relevant information on the state of the business as well as decision support using SAP’s latest analytics tools.

Thomas has over 18 years of professional experience in Finance and Operations and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Mannheim/Germany.

Thomas is a distinguished speaker at customer conferences, CFO roundtables and events where he shares his view on latest innovations and showcases how SAP runs SAP. In 2016 Thomas has been awarded the “CFO of the Year Award for Excellence in Technology by CFO Innovation.

Huong Vu, EY Vietnam, is the General Director of EY Consulting Vietnam. Huong Vu has more than 22 years of professional practice in Tax and Investment in Vietnam. She has extensive experience in tax planning, tax controversy and business advisory services to meet the needs of multinational enterprises operating in Vietnam in a wide variety of industries. 

Huong Vu is a member of CPA Australia, a board member of the Vietnam Tax Consultant Association (VTCA), Deputy Director of the Vietnam CFO Club and leader of Tax group of Vietnam Business Forum (VBF). She is also a member of International Tax Committee of IAFEI. Huong Vu personally received recognition awards from the Prime Minister for her achievements and contributions to Tax development in Vietnam.

Mr. Carvajal has over 20 years of professional tax experience providing services to Mexican and International entities. During his trajectory, has held the position of tax partner at Castillo, Miranda y Compañía, S.C. (BDO México); Calderón, González y Carvajal, S.C.; Mancera S.C. (E&Y); and, Deloitte & Touche.

Currently he is the Founding and Managing Partner at Maat Asesores, S.C.

He has been a frequent speaker in tax subjects at various academic and professional forums. Mr. Carvajal is frequently quoted at newspapers and magazines referring to tax issues. 

Nao Fukutani has more than 30 years of investment banking experience, including M&A advisory, structured finance, LBO/MBO origination, bankruptcy recovery proceedings, corporate turnaround, triangular mergers, developing takeover defense strategy for a number of Tokyo Stock Exchange listed companies, ECM/DCM management, etc.

Nao’s more than 25 years M&A advisory career started at The Mitsui Bank (now Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, SMBC) in the mid-80's. Up until he left SMBC Group, he had worked on executing cross-border transactions in Tokyo (at Sakura Bank), New York (at SMBC), and Singapore (at Daiwa Securities SMBC).

Lam is the Partner in charge of our tax and consulting practice in Vietnam. Lam worked for one of the Big Four since 1992 prior to joining RSM Vietnam and has over 23 years of experience working with multi-national corporations and Vietnam clientele in all sectors. Lam specialises in providing clients in local tax advice and other compliance issues relating to inbound investment.

Lam has advised many multinational companies on their investment structuring, investment strategies, foreign investment regulations, international and local tax planning and compliance. He has represented various companies and industries in their representations to investment and taxation authorities in matters relating to foreign investment and taxation policies, interpretations and Lam has worked, and enjoys, an excellent working relationship with various authorities.

With a strong conviction that the new drivers of the next waves of growth will come from entrepreneur groups, Mr. Teng has been working with like-minded business partners, communities and enabling platform operators to jointly develop an eco-system to promote and enable co-creation among entrepreneurs.

He has more than 35 years of senior management experience in the Asia region, Australia, and in the Middle East Region.

He spent ten years each in Japan and Indonesia, four years each in Malaysia and Australia managing businesses in the following sectors: FMCG (Manufacturing, Marketing & Distribution), Commodities trading, Agri-Food, F&B, ICT and system integration, Energy-saving solutions & products, as well as infrastructure and construction.

David Chou has been involving technology institutions and companies in the US (especially Silicon Valley), Israel, and Europe for investments and their respective developments in Asia. Those institutions and companies with mature products and technologies hope to find Asian partners for manufacturing, distribution, licensing, and joint venture. IAFEI Asia executives, members, and their companies could be good cooperation candidates for those institutions and companies. 

He Acted as financial and strategic consultants to 300+ companies in US, China, HK, Taiwan, Europe, Israel, Korea, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia  

Roy Ng is the Director of SMB Segment for Central Asia Pacific Region (CAP) which includes a diverse market of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indo-China, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea

As part of the PC business, Roy's portfolio includes ThinkStation, ThinkCenter, ThinkPad, Tablets and other Lenovo commercial products. The SMB segment range from SOHO, Mid Market, Large Enterprises and International Accounts, both Relationship and transactional based.

Roy is a CA Singapore (Chartered Accountant) and is passionate about collaborating with partners and customers to achieve their business objectives, adding values as a trusted adviser.

Truc Nguyen is currently the Chief Financial Officer for HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. Prior to joining HSBC, Truc had over nineyears experience with KPMG UK, Vietnam, Singapore & Malaysia in Assurance - Financial Services. Her experience and exposure involve IFRS, UK GAAP, Vietnam GAAP, SBV and FSA regulatory requirements. Truc also gained over one year’s experience working for the International Finance Corporation (IFC - MPDF) in a programme to strengthen capacity for SME businesses and industry associations in the newly-emerging economies of Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR.

Truc holds a Bachelor of Economics degree, with a major in Accounting and Finance. She is qualified as a Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) of the United States of America and as aCertified Auditor in Vietnam.

Steve Cox, Steve Cox leads go-to-market strategy for Oracle ERP and EPM Product Marketing.

Cox joined Oracle in 1997. Prior to his current role, he held various management positions within Oracle product marketing, consulting, and development.

Cox holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Bath. He is the author of Modern Best Practice Explained, an ebook articulating the next generation of business processes needed by organizations embarking on digital transformation.

Han Manh Tien is an economist, a senior expert with more than 30 years of experience in corporate governance, law, government system, social development and investment in Vietnam. He holds various senior specialist and team leader of hundreds of studies, researches and projects financed by international organizations including WB, ADB, UNDP, JICA, JBIC, DFID, and VNCI... He was Leader Economic Department of the Institute of Scientific management, State Committee of Science of Vietnam.   

Richard has over 10 years experiences in Microsoft helping customers transform their business across multiple industries like FSI, Real Estates, and Automotive. As solution lead in Microsoft, Richard worked with many FSI in the region on their security and compliance initiatives, especially their transition to cloud. 

Before Microsoft, Richard worked in organizations like HP and Fujitsu in datacenter and security domains.

Ms Jianhua Fu has 16 years of management informatization and related work in the IT industry, with extensive financial management and information technology expertise and practical experience.

She is responsible for large-scale enterprise financial management software, cloud business and consulting implementation and worked as a consultant, project manager, large software product manager, product chief architect, and head of the business unit.

She is a member of Management Accounting Special Experts, Ministry of Finance , P. R. China

She holds CPA, Member of China Management Accounting 50 Forum and Deputy Secretary General, Management Accounting Informatization Branch, China Association of Chief Accountants

Mr. Shabbir Imani, co-Founder & Director of Expenzing, graduated with a Bachelor degree in Engineering, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration with specialization in Finance & Systems. Mr. Imani has over 30 years of Experience in the Information Technology industry where most of his experience is related to solutions for transforming Finance & Procurement function in an organization.

He has been a serial entrepreneur in the software products space, and his area of passion is to create a world class, international, product company, which is a leader in its space. He co-promoted Expenzing in 1996 which is the result of his passion- “Spend Management software designed to help organizations save cost with Digital Transformation”. Expenzing is a Gartner listed company, that operates in multiple continents, and has a client base of over 170 blue chip clients.
 
Currently Mr. Imani is focusing on establishing Expenzing’s strong presence in emerging market, primarily ASEAN. 

She has in charge of Vice General Director of CMC Saigon System Integration Co., Ltd (CMC SISG) from 2011 to now. As the key leader of CMC SI Saigon, she plays dicisive role in directing the oriented strategy in developing CMC SISG is one of the top of systems integration services in Vietnam and the Top 1 in providing integrated solutions for Banking and Finance.

Prior to her current position at CMC, she was in charge of Country Channel Manager of Hewlett Packard for Vietnam, Laos, Campodia. Therefore, besides Vietnam, she’s very experience about Indochina.

With over 15 years of in-depth experience in IT industry, specially, she has extensive experience in Vietnam financial market as well as having a strong knowledge about business and customer, she plays an important role in consulting, providing business solutions for creating competitive advantage for banks in the challenge period.

Started career in a major Japanese staffing company and worked in new business development department, US entity, and then established bilingual staffing division targeting multinational companies as Head of division.
After granting US CPA qualification, worked for a large International law firm, managing HR and Professional Services departments , and for several global companies, responsible for general business management and developments.

Over 10 years of experience in new business development, and 20 years in general business management for Global companies. Experienced expert in organizational reengineering and Financial reformation, managed over Finance, Human Resources, Law & Compliance, and IT.
In October 2018, appointed as Chief Research Fellow & Head of New Business Development for Japan Association for CFOs, and currently focusing on studying and enlightening how to foster and promote new Finance leaders demanded by the digitalization era.


Liem has been the Executive Director – Finance cum Chief Accountant since of Vinamilk since 2015.

From 1994 to 2003, he held different positions at Finance – Accounting Division of Vinamilk.

Previously, Liem had over 12 years working experiences in these rolse at Finance – Accounting and he used to a BOD member of Vietnam Sugar Joint Stock Company
